It's that time of year where many couples are getting engaged. You now have the man of your dreams, the ring is on your finger, you have shared the exciting news with family and friends, now what? I understand how daunting the wedding planning process is, so here are a few pointers to get you headed in the right direction and feeling good about checking things off that long, long to do list.
1. Pick A Date - Perhaps you have dreamed of a romantic summer beach wedding or an intimate soiree at a vineyard in the fall with all the warm romantic jewel tones. Maybe a destination wedding in the Rockies with skiing, snowmobiling and a romantic rehearsal dinner by the fires as part of the weekend wedding festivities for your out of town guests. Whatever your dream is make this your first priority. To help you out, please check this list provided by The Knot of Wedding Dates to Avoid.

2. Find A Location - The most sought after venues book out 12 - 24 months ahead of time (sometimes further). So if you have that special location that you have always had your eye on - make that phone call and schedule your site visit to make sure it fits into your overall vision.

3. Send out Save-The-Date Cards - It's important to inform your intended guests of your upcoming wedding. This is especially important if your guests will be coming from other states, even countries. This is your first "impression" of your wedding day so choose your cards wisely. Here are a few ideas.
4. Choose your Attendants - This can be a bit challenging. However, don't let anyone influence your choices out of "obligation". You want the person(s) standing with you to be the friends that know you best and will be there 10 years from now celebrating your future anniversaries.
5. Set A Budget - And stick to it!!!! Remember the wedding is about you and your sweetheart vowing to love, honor and cherish each other, not trying to out do the last wedding you attended, or start off your life deep in debt. Yes, you want to ensure your guests have a memorable time and this CAN be done while remaining within the budget you pre-determine for yourself.
6. Select your Wedding Vendors - Florist, DJ, Officiant, Caterer, Bakery, etc. Your vendor selection can make or break your wedding. Try to work off of referrals of friends or do your due diligence and research thoroughly. If you don't know where to start and need help, hiring a Wedding Planner can be a lifesaver. They have a network of reliable vendors that they have worked with and can help you select the vendors that fit your budget.
7. Choose Theme and/or Color Scheme - This will play out in various ways throughout your day. From your wedding dress, the bridesmaid's style, the flowers, the table decor, etc. Start looking through wedding magazines and blogs to get some fabulous ideas and start those creative juices flowing.
